White Image’s third year in business came with a set of challenges which taught us valuable lessons that fuelled our activities over the following years. 2005 was quite a challenge to us, because our expenses were higher than our earnings, and prudence was our watchword. Everything we did was funded by our own savings, so we had to find the perfect balance between earnings and costs.
Aside from the money, developing our own software also generated a number of new situations that we had to successfully manage as quickly as possible. Choosing the hosting service was an extremely important milestone for our business. Although the budget was not really our strength, we eventually chose the most expensive available back then: Rackspace. Their approach and support service made a very good impression on us. Originally, they had spent almost two hours on the phone trying to convince us that they were able to provide exactly what we were looking for. We declined their proposal, and therefore they mailed us a t-shirt promoting their "fanatical support" service. That was the moment when we realised that we did need such partners, and closed the deal.
All of these 15 years in business have brought us a lot of unique moments, and one of them actually happened in 2005, and involved Business Magazin. What made it special was that when we started email communications for this client, the publication did not even have their own website. Those were times when the printed material still prevailed over online communications, and the message we would send out was actually a call on customers to visit the newsstands to purchase the magazine.
Those were the moments that helped us upgrade from one day to the next and reach’s today standing. Before we knew, we started to get confirmations that we were doing a good job, but you can read more about that in our story covering 2006.
